What is eSIM?
An eSIM ( Embedded Sim card)is essentially a digital equivalent of the traditional physical plastic SIM card found in most phones.
- A physical SIM card is a small piece of plastic with a chip on it. It contains your mobile number and details of your mobile plan (Example: data, SMS, and voice call allowances).
- An eSIM, on the other hand, is a digital version of this information stored directly within your phone/device’s hardware.
eSim allows for remote assigning of network profiles to a device without the need of taking out a physical sim card from the phone and re-inserting the sim card that contains the mobile plan (Data, call, text/SMS) you want. Hence, it enhances flexibility with changing plans easily while travelling from country to country and simplifies device management.
eSim is popularly used by people travelling to another country because this enables them to immediately reconnect to the internet once they land at their destination.
Benefits of eSIM:
- It offers Convenience:
- Easy to activate: You can activate plans directly on your device (often with a QR code scan or downloading the plan onto your device ).
- No physical sim card: It eliminates the need to insert and remove Sim cards each time you wish to change from one mobile provider to another.
- Travel friendly: You can easily switch between local carriers (local service providers) while traveling internationally.
- Gives Flexibility:
- Multiple Plans on your device: esim enables you to save multiple plans (internet data, call or SMS plans) on one device/smart phone (useful for if you want to use one phone for work and personal lines).
- Easy Switching: Quickly switch between carriers (phone network providers) without needing a new physical SIM card.
- Security:
- Reduced risk of losing a Sim or Damaging a physical sim card: No physical Sim card to lose or damage.
- Enhanced security features: Some eSIMs offer advanced security features.
- Device Design:
- Space Savings: Allows for slimmer and more compact device designs.
Disadvantages of eSIM:
- Potential for Issues: If your device’s software or the carrier’s eSIM system malfunctions, you may experience connectivity problems.
- Device Compatibility: Not all devices support eSIM technology. Check Device compatibility
- Carrier Availability: There limited carrier support in some regions/countries around the world. But you can Get eSim Data from us before you travel to your destination and activate when you land in the country.
